Just doing an Olympian of the Day for now. If you don't recognize the guy, that's understandable. He's a Norwegian Cross Country Skiier named Frode Estil. In Sunday's 30-kilometer Men's Pursuit, Estil, one of the top skiiers in the race (and a gold medal winner in 2002) tripped and fell, taking out several skiiers with him. One of those skiiers broke one of Estil's skis on the way down. Afterward, Estil got up, and actually stood for a few seconds trying to decide whether or not it would be worth it to go on, with the pack growing increasingly distant. He decided to go, and after getting a new ski, was on the hunt. Two of his teammates got out in front of the pack to slow it, and nobody passed them, realizing that an Olympic champion had fallen, and deserved to have a shot. Estil hustled back to the pack, and seemed never to tire as he eventually caught the leaders, before earning a silver medal. In the movies, perhaps he would have won the race, but as the TV announcers said, perhaps on Sunday that silver meant even more than the gold.
